Overview

Heat pumps are a proven way to provide secure and sustainable heating, powered by low emissions electricity. They are the central technology in the global transition to secure and sustainable heating. Although their primary objective is to provide heating, the reverse cycle allows heat pumps to provide both heating and cooling. Due to their ability to recover waste heat and elevate its temperature to more practical levels, they possess significant potential for energy conservation.
Heat pumps are typically comparable to refrigeration cycles, with much of the technology being based on refrigerators. Heat pumps can also address heating needs in industrial and residential sectors.
The main part of the heat pump is its electric motor, which controls compressor, fan and valves. onsemi offers a vast variety of power components used in all power levels from discrete (Si MOSFET, IGBT, SiC MOSFET) to Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) and Power Integrated Modules (PIM).
