Overview

Body Control Modules serve as the central intelligence for managing a wide range of body and convenience functions in modern vehicles. Acting as an information and communication hub, the BCM controls systems such as lighting, mirrors, door locks, windows, wipers, and trunk operations, while also supporting security features like remote keyless entry, immobilizers, and alarms.

Beyond basic control, BCMs handle multiple loads efficiently and provide diagnostic capabilities to ensure system reliability. They replace traditional electromechanical relays with advanced electronic drivers, enabling precise motor control through DC and PWM signals. As vehicle architectures evolve toward zonal and software-defined designs, BCMs integrate seamlessly with diverse communication protocols including CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet, often functioning as gateways between these networks.
