NCP144x devices deliver up to 33 percent more output current than competitive devices, offer low standby current and enable both low cost power conversion and significant design flexibility

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Nov. 24, 2003 - Continuing to expand its presence in the portable and wireless markets, Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN) today introduced the NCP144x series of 280 kilohertz (kHz) and 560 kHz boost regulators offering design engineers low cost power conversion solutions for a wide range of battery operated applications.

Each of the four new current mode boost regulators features a 4 Amp (A) / 40 volt (V) integrated power switch that eliminates the need for an external FET - thus saving both cost and board space. The flexibility of the design allows the parts to operate in most power supply configurations, including boost, flyback, forward, inverting and SEPIC. Because the devices operate at voltages ranging from 2.7 V to 30 V, they accommodate numerous applications including test equipment, handheld meters, portable printers and computers, and process control.
