Semiconductor confirmed its continued membership and support for the Low Voltage Logic Alliance.
At a press conference held at the company's headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, ON Semiconductor President Steve Hanson unveiled the new name and corporate identity of the largest supplier of analog, logic and discrete components, a former division of Motorola. The division was acquired from Motorola by Texas Pacific Group under terms announced by the former parent company on
During his remarks following the unveiling, Hanson said: "In 1993, Fairchild Semiconductor, Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector, and Toshiba Corporation formed the Low Voltage Logic Alliance as an industry response to provide
customers real multiple sources for low voltage logic. The Semiconductor Components Group has been the organization within Motorola that has supported the alliance since 1997. Today, I'd like to announce that ON Semiconductor will
carry on its support and continued involvement as an active Low Voltage Logic Alliance partner."
The Alliance was formed to define defacto standards for low voltage applications, standardize specifications and package pinouts as well as develop next-generation products. The combination of the three alliance members means
high-volume manufacturing capability, specification stability, and assured product availability. After six years of working together, Alliance members have not only introduced new low voltage logic families, but have formed a real working partnership.
