2021 was a busy year for onsemi. With president and CEO Hassane El-Khoury at the helm, the company started executing its new corporate strategy focused on making onsemi a leader in intelligent power and sensing technologies. On August 5, 2021, onsemi held its first Analyst Day, where a corporate rebrand was unveiled along with a commitment to achieve net-zero emission status by 2040. The corporate strategy yielded consecutive quarters of record revenue and included the acquisition of GT Advanced Technologies – expanding the company’s leadership in silicon carbide and providing customers with the assurance of supply so desperately needed in the rapidly-growing electric vehicle market.
Starting off 2022 on the right foot, onsemi secured a spot on Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies list for the third consecutive year. On this list, Newsweek highlights companies that, aside from being successful, also care about being good citizens and giving back to the communities in which they operate. Newsweek partnered with Statista to identify companies for this list, focusing their search on organizations with publicly available performance data on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities. Statista surveyed 11,000 U.S. citizens on their perceptions of corporate social responsibility at the selected companies. The final list included 499 companies across 14 industries. onsemi was among the top 100, ranking #53.
“Corporations aren’t just impersonal machines for making money; they are also members of the communities where their employees, customers, and neighbors live and work,” said Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief at Newsweek, as stated in its December 2021 press release. “Some, of course, take their environmental and social responsibilities as citizens of the country and the world more seriously than others. Just as with people, companies can be bad neighbors or good neighbors, grudging or generous, helpful, or unhelpful to those around them.”
onsemi demonstrates corporate citizenship by focusing on people and the planet. The company has a robust ethics program that prevents, detects, and responds to immoral or illegal conduct while promoting an ethical and legally compliant business culture. In terms of environmental responsibility, onsemi has robust internal greenhouse gas emission tracking processes to ensure accurate carbon accounting and encourages employees to implement projects that decrease emissions. In 2020, the company reduced over 12,000 metric tons of CO2 emission through 49 green projects in six countries. In addition, onsemi has seen unprecedented revenue and stock growth over the past year as it executes a new corporate strategy while remaining rooted in sustainability and putting people first. onsemi’s ESG performance data is available in its annual sustainability report.
