The electric meter market is undergoing a major transition from the outdated analog meters to smart electric meters which add the functionality of communication for smart grid interoperability. Smart e-meters measure the customer’s electricity consumption in 15, 30 or 60 minute intervals while measuring voltage levels, and monitoring the on/off status of electric services. These readings are communicated to utility companies for analytics and then back to customers for billing, energy feedback and time-based rates.

The Power Solutions Group’s portfolio offers many solutions for smart e-meters such as the NCS21xR current sense op-amp with integrated gain resistors and ultra-low input offset voltage to minimize power dissipation across the shunt resistor. We have industry leading high PSRR/low noise LDO portfolio for high performance voltage regulation and a broad optocoupler portfolio for isolation purposes.
