onsemi Celebrates Diversity

In the U.S., April is Celebrate Diversity Month, an initiative created by two diversity companies in 2004 to recognize and honor the diversity surrounding us all with the hope that people will gain a deeper understanding of each other. While it is a reminder to celebrate both our employees and the people invested in our industry in all their facets, our commitment to diversity extends far past just one month of the year. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are the foundation for all our work at onsemi.

onsemi President and CEO Hassane El-Khoury reminded us in his first anniversary message that it “has truly been a transformative year. With that, I’ve taken the time to reflect on our accomplishments, our goals, and why we do what we do.” His comment has inspired us to recognize some of the work that has gone into strengthening our diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture.

To measure our performance on internal initiatives against other companies, onsemi participates in multiple industry-recognized diversity surveys annually. And the results have been positive throughout.

For the third consecutive year, our company has been recognized as a Military Friendly Company. “Military Friendly® is the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the U.S. military community.

In partnership with market research company Statista, Forbes identified companies leading the way to support women inside and outside their workforces. In their inaugural ranking, Forbes recognized onsemi as one of the World's Top Female Friendly Companies. This list was compiled by surveying 85,000 women in 40 countries. Forbes asked respondents to rate their employers on criteria such as pay equity and parental leave and assess how companies use their platforms and marketing messages to promote gender equality or to perpetuate negative stereotypes. Representation at the executive and board levels was also considered.

onsemi also took part in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (Bloomberg-GEI), which tracks the performance of public companies committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through policy development, representation, and transparency. In 2022, onsemi was one of 418 companies across 50 industries headquartered in 45 countries and regions included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. It was our third consecutive year to be named to the index.

In addition, we provided input for the McKinsey Women in the Workplace report, which provides an overview of HR policies and programs, including HR leaders’ sentiment on the most effective diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices—and explores the intersectional experiences of different groups of women at work.

We are honored to be recognized as a role model for DEI thanks to the contributions of our employees who are the heartbeat of our organization. In return, these third-party recognitions demonstrate our commitment to our employees and the value we place on them.

One specific way onsemi encourages diversity is through our employee resource groups (ERGs), which help facilitate equity in our workplace. We currently have six ERGs:

  • WE – Empower women to succeed through business, strategic and financial acumen. 
  • STEM UP – Develop talent through lifelong science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education for a diverse workforce. 
  • Cultivate – Unite a group of diverse generations to enhance company culture. 
  • B.E.N.– Foster an environment of recruitment, retention and career advancement of Black employees. 
  • Continua– Cultivate an inclusive workplace for employees who are and support LGBTQ+ people. 
  • Veteran & Military Employees (VME) – Recruit, develop and retain veteran and military members. 

All of our DEI initiatives align with our core values of integrity, initiative, and respect. As we celebrate diversity not only this month but every month, we invite you to take initiative yourself and broaden your horizons by attending a diversity event, engage with someone outside of your familiar groups, learn something new and – if you are an onsemi employee – join one of our employee resource groups.
