Phoenix, AZ - June 16, 2000 - ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN) has continued the expansion of the VHC logic portfolio to include eight new TTL compatible functions. These devices which include NOR, AND, OR, XOR and Bus functions, offer equivalent performance and full pin compatibility with existing non-TTL functions in the series and competitive AHC devices.
These new functions are advanced high-speed CMOS functions fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. They achieve high-speed operation similar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining CMOS low power dissipation. They offer designers an easy transition from 5 volt systems to mixed 3 volt / 5 volt systems with functions that offer speed, drive and power performance advantages. Typical gate propagation delays for the functions are well below 4 nsec and the VHCT inputs are compatible with TTL levels. All the devices can be used as level converters for interfacing 3.3 volt to 5 volt, because they have full 5 volt CMOS level output swings.

The new additions to the VHC family include the MC74VHCT02A Quad 2-Input NOR Gate, the MC74VHCT08A Quad 2-Input AND Gate, the MC74VHCT32A Quad 2-Input OR Gate, the MC74VHCT86A Quad 2-Input XOR Gate, the MC74VHCT125A Quad Bus Buffer, the MC74VHCT126A Quad Bus Buffer, the MC74VHCT132A Quad 2-input NAND Schmitt Trigger and the MC74VHCT540A Octal Bus Buffer. All the functions in the portfolio are ideal for general-purpose logic applications in virtually all market segments.
Along with the other functions in the portfolio, these devices have 5 volt tolerant inputs, power down protection on the inputs, low noise of VOLP of 0.8 volts, a 2 volt to 5.5 volt power supply range, a maximum static current of 20 5A and latch-up performance exceeding 300 mA.
The MC74VHCT02A, T08A, T32A, T86A, T125A, T126A, and T132A are available in 14 pin SOIC and TSSOP packages. The T540A is available in both 20-pin SOIC and TSSOP packages. Pricing is suggested in the range of $0.12 to $0.32 per 2.5K unit quantities. Samples and production quantities are currently available.
