Product Overview
Product Description
Q32M210 is a precision mixed-signal 32-bit microcontroller, ideally suited for portable precision sensing devices. The optimized architecture provides exceptional performance and outstanding power efficiency with predictable operation.

Built around a programmable ARM® Cortex™-M3 processor that enables code portability, the Q32M210 microcontroller integrates a configurable, low-noise analog front-end to form an extremely flexible and scalable measurement engine–enabling product developers to quickly and more efficiently deploy a range of products at different price/performance points.

Generous peripheral interfaces enable Q32M210 to drive displays, user interfaces and support data connections including USB. Its extensive flash memory with integrated error checking and correction provides significant code space for advanced algorithms and user data storage. An extremely high level of integration reduces external component count and lowers overall system cost.

With development tools and software support that includes sample code, firmware libraries and communication drivers, in addition to full technical support from our system experts, ON Semiconductor shortens the development cycle and helps get you to market fast.
Features   Benefits

  • Low-noise, low-leakage configurable sensor interface: ultra-low noise op-amps with low-leakage inputs, configurable outputs, and dual programmable gain amplifiers for optimal dynamic range scaling of sensor signals

  • High precision sensing: The combination of dual 16-bit ADCs, a highly accurate voltage reference, triple 10-bit DACs and a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor enables the Q32M210 microcontroller to deliver high precision performance. The ultra-low-noise ADCs offer true 16-bit performance, unlike typical converters where nonlinearity and noise can reduce the number of effective bits.
  • Flexible sensor interconnection scheme: 8:1 input multiplexing as well as four multi-switches and four SPST switches for effective connection to a wide range of sensors

  • Predictable operation: Featuring on-chip power supervision with dedicated brownout protection circuitry and low battery detection, Q32M210 provides predictable operation under all battery conditions. Integrated error checking and correction circuitry monitors the on-chip flash memory, detecting and correcting single-bit errors and alerting when larger errors are detected.
  • Efficient and powerful processing architecture: ARM Cortex-M3 processor-based mixed-signal data acquisition system, 256 kB on-chip flash for program and user data storage, 48 kB on-chip SRAM for storage of intermediate data during operation, and no external voltage required for flash write operation

  • Highly integrated and optimized: All critical functions including a real-time clock, power management, oscillators and a full complement of peripherals are integrated within the Q32M210 microcontroller, reducing complexity, the need for external components and overall BOM cost.
  • Ultra-low-power: less than 1 mA at 1 MHz core operation with basic sensor interface enabled, typical 3.0 V system supply voltage (2032 coin cell or similar), operation down to 1.8 V
Smart power management: including low current sleep mode (real-time clock active) consuming only 750 nA

  • Extended battery life: Industry-leading power efficiency dramatically extends battery life. The ultra-low-power sensor interface, flexible clocking architecture, multiple operating modes (active, stand-by and sleep) and an intelligent power supply monitoring feature enable significantly reduced power consumption
  • Low-noise A/D conversion: dual 16-bit, low power ADCs with on-the-fly data rate configurability

  • Low-power D/A conversion: triple 10-bit DACs with configurable dynamic range

  • Integrated Pulse Width Management (PWM): On-chip PWM capability combined with on-chip low on-resistance multi-switches eliminates the need for external driver MOSFETs

  • Hardware ECC: built-in flash memory error checking and correction ensures greater reliability

  • Flexible clocking architecture: supports speeds up to 16 MHz using either an internally or externally generated clock (USB interface operates at 48 MHz using a dedicated external crystal)

  • Full range of configurable data interfaces: USB (2.0 full-speed compatible), PCM (including I2S mode), dual UARTs, dual SPI, SQI, I2C, GPIOs

  • Flexible LCD interfacing: LCD (up to 112 segments) and integrated backlight driver via on-chip charge pump

  • Smart power management: including low current sleep mode (real-time clock active) consuming only 750 nA

  • Integrated precision voltage reference: <50ppm/C across the range 0C to 50C

  • Integrated temperature measurement: designed accuracy is 0.8C

  • Predictable operation: dedicated brown-out protection circuitry and a watchdog to help maintain predictable operation

End Products
  • Low-power sensing devices
  • Portable medical devices
  • Devices that require high accuracy, dependability and low power operation
