The portfolio of TRIAC Driver Optocouplers from ON Semiconductor includes a variety of TRIAC Driver Optocoupler devices that function like a triac, interfacing between electronic controls and power triacs to control resistive and inductive loads. They consist of a gallium arsenide (GaAs) infrared emitting diode coupled to a light-activated silicon bilateral switch, which functions like a triac. The ideal performance characteristics of the portfolio include excellent IFT stability (IR emitting diode has low degradation), 300mA on-state current, zero-voltage crossing, high blocking voltage, high trigger sensitivity, and high static dv/dt (10,000V/µs). The devices achieve the following safety and regulatory approvals: UL1577, 4,170 VACRMS for 1 Minute, VDE, FIMKO, C-UL, and DIN EN/IEC60747-5-5. Applications include Consumer Appliances, Industrial Motor Controls, Industrial Controls, Traffic Lights, Vending Machines, Solid State Relays, Lamp Ballasts, Solenoid / Valve Controls, Static AC Power Switch, Incandescent Lamp Dimmers, Lighting controls, AC motor starters, and Static power switches.
