The portfolio of High-Speed Logic Gate Optocouplers from ON Semiconductor includes a variety of octocouplers consisting of an AlGaAS LED, optically coupled to a very high-speed integrated photo-detector logic gate with a strobable output. They utilize patented galvanic off−chip capacitor isolation technology and optimized IC design to achieve high insulation and high noise immunity, characterized by high common mode rejection and power supply rejection specifications. The ideal performance characteristics of the portfolio include very high speed, high data rate, full-duplex bi−directional communication, superior CMR, Data Rate Non-Return Zero Coding, logic gate output, wired OR-open collector, guaranteed on/off threshold hysteresis, and over-temperature detection. The devices achieve the following safety and regulatory approvals: UL1577, DIN EN/IEC60747-5-5, DIN VDE V 0884−11, and pending AEC-Q101 qualifications. The portfolio provides guaranteed specifications performance over an extended industrial temperature range from −40°C to 125°C on select devices. Applications include Isolated PWM Control, Isolating Intelligent Power Module, Isolating Industrial Communication Interface, Isolated Data Acquisition System, Industrial Fieldbus Communications, Microprocessor System Interface (SPI, I2C, etc.), Programmable Logic Control, and Voltage Level Translator. Additional applications include Energy Generation and Distribution, Industrial Motor, Uninterruptible Power Supply, Ground Loop Elimination, Line Receiver Data Transmission, Data Multiplexing, Switching Power Supplies, Pulse Transformer Replacement, and Computer-peripheral Interface.
