Debugging the Sample Code
Debug the application using the .elf file as follows:
- Within the Project Explorer, right-click on the blinky.elf file and select Debug As > Debug Configurations…
- When the Debug Configurations dialog appears, right-click on GDB SEGGER J-Link Debugging and select New Configuration. A new configuration for Blinky appears under the GDB SEGGER heading, with the new configuration details in the right side panel.
- Change to the Debugger tab, and enter RSL15 in the Device Name field. Ensure that SWD is selected as the target interface. Make certain that the Other Options field in the J-Link GDB Server Setup section does not include the -nogui option. (See the "Setting Up a GDB Launch Configuration, Debugger Tab" figure.)
- Click the Startup tab of the Debug configuration as shown in the "Setting Up a GDB Launch Configuration, Startup Tab" figure. Ensure that the Initial Reset and Halt checkbox is unchecked.

- Once the configuration changes are applied, make sure that the EVB is connected to the PC, and click Debug. J-Link automatically downloads the blinky sample code to RSL15’s flash memory.
- The Debug perspective opens and the application runs up to the first breakpoint in main. Press F8 or click the Resume icon (
) to resume the execution of the application. In the RSL15 EVB, you can see that a green and a blue LED are both blinking, at different rates. When push-button SW1 is pressed, the blinking of these two LEDs is disabled or enabled.
