ON Semiconductor, Winner for Supply Chain Return on Investment
ON Semiconductor is a leading global supplier of advanced power semiconductor solutions. The company’s product portfolio has over 24,000 devices and sells to 250 direct customers and to a distribution channel that serves over 10,000 customers and ships over 30 billion units per year.
Challenged by the semiconductor industry’s shortened product lifecycles and increasingly complex supply chains, ON Semiconductor re-engineered its supply chain with a transformation program designed to turn supply chain risk into a competitive advantage. Leveraging a broad spectrum of i2 solutions, ON Semiconductor benefits from automated supply chain processes such as inventory optimization, scenario planning, sales and operations planning and supply chain visibility, as well as build-to-stock and build-to-order capabilities based on demand.
i2 is a strategic adviser to ON Semiconductor and over the course of its eight-year relationship with the company delivered an abundance of value. Leveraging i2 solutions, ON Semiconductor is working to mitigate risk throughout the supply chain and operate a more lean business with focus on the customer. The company has increased the efficiency of its supply chain by enhancing its planning processes with more frequent and tactical plans, gaining visibility to customer forecasts to better understand variability and uncertainty, and optimizing its inventory management capabilities. After an initial evaluation, ON Semiconductor reports the use of i2 tools had brought the company savings approaching $20M. Additionally, the company has improved its on-time delivery from approximately 70 percent to more than 90 percent, doubled its inventory turns, and increased its productivity by 300 percent. The company regularly evaluates its operational metrics and reports the value received from i2 solutions provides management with additional incentive to continue investing in supply chain improvements.
