Sept. 12, 2011 – ON Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: ONNN), driving energy efficient innovations, today announced that it has been named a winner in Electronic Products China (EPC)’s Top-10 Power Products Award for its NCP185x series switching battery charger, which is optimized for power efficiency in smart phones, tablets and other handheld devices. EPC is one of China’s most authoritative electronics trade publications and this is the 11th consecutive year that ON Semiconductor has won an award from this publication.

The NCP185x series switching battery charger is a fully programmable single cell lithium-ion switching battery charger. Optimized for charging from a USB compliant input supply and AC adapter power source, the device significantly reduces charge time, increases battery life and includes advanced start-up features. It integrates a synchronous PWM controller, power MOSFETs, and the entire charge cycle monitoring including safety features under software supervision. An optional battery FET can be placed between the system and the battery in order to isolate and supply the system.
