The company will present papers at the Automotive Forum, the Embedded Forum and the Wireless Forum, and will also be participating in Wireless Congress 2008. With a focus on ‘Systems and Applications’, Wireless Congress 2008 is designed as an international platform for developers, system designers, technology decision makers, project managers and wireless system authorities. On Thursday 13th November at 17.00, Allan Ball, ON Semiconductor’s application engineering director, will present a Congress paper on the topic of ‘Implementing efficient bi-directional current flow in portable handheld electronics.’
The electronica Automotive Forum in Hall A6 will see Bart de Cock, ON Semiconductor’s automotive product manager, deliver a paper on the use of stepper motors in automotive motion control designs. Bart will present the paper - Emerging stepper motor technologies enable next-generation automotive actuators - at 15.30 on 12th November and 14.00 on 13th November.
ON Semiconductor will be presenting two different papers at the electronica Embedded Forum, also in Hall A6. In the first, which is scheduled for 15.30 on 12th November, Eric Wallentine, ON Semiconductor’s product marketing manager, industrial products (stepper motor drivers and CAN transceivers), will consider the topic of ‘drive evolution for flexible CAN-based motion controls’. At 15.00 on 13th November Barry West, the company’s principal systems architect for digital and mil/aero products and services, will deliver a paper on FPGA-based embedded systems design.
Portable design will be the theme of an ON Semiconductor paper to be delivered at the electronica Wireless Forum in Hall A4. Presented by Michael Bairanzade, a senior member of the technical staff in the company’s LVPM Division, the paper will look at how state-of-the-art LED driver technologies can be used to create new, portable illumination designs. ON Semiconductor’s NCP5680, a unique LED flash driver with super-capacitor charging control will be highlighted in this presentation. The device is capable of delivering over 5A to 2 LED flashlights for high resolution photography – the highest current capability in the market. It also allows the extra energy in the super-capacitor to power other high-peak-current circuits in the cellphone, such as PA and audio amplifier. Therefore, the battery is able to handle more power consuming applications and for a longer time. The NCP5680 offers both flash and torch mode, with photo sensor that limits the flash duration and multiple safety features including temperature sensing, short circuit protection and time-out. This paper will be presented at 15.00 on both the 12th and 13th November.
Finally, Hervé Branquart, ON Semiconductor’s director of business strategy for automotive and industrial products, will be participating in the German National Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (ZVEI) Forum, which takes place in Hall B4. As part of his participation in this forum, Herve will present a paper about the 40 years plus experience that ON Semiconductor has within the automotive and industrial electronics market on Wednesday 12th November at 16.30h.
