ON Semiconductor Wins “Top 10 DC-DC 2008” Award for NCP310x High Current Integrated Switchers from Electronic Products China  Chinese

The NCP310x integrated switching regulator family addresses the industry’s growing need for efficient high power density designs

BEIJING, China – September 18, 2008 – ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN), a leading global supplier of high performance, energy efficient, silicon solutions, today announced that Electronic Products China (EPC) magazine has presented the company with a “Top 10 DC-DC 2008” award for its NCP310x family of integrated switching regulators for simplifying embedded designs in high density applications. This is the sixth consecutive year that ON Semiconductor has won the award from EPC.

The NCP310x family of integrated switching regulators is designed to deliver high efficiency and increased power density, enabling customers to reduce the cost of their systems by switching from an existing dc-dc module to an embedded design.

“Winning this award for the sixth year running helps endorse ON Semiconductor’s leadership position in power efficiency,” said Hemen Cheng, ON Semiconductor global sales & marketing director, Automotive & Power Regulation Group. “The new level of integration provided by the NCP310x switchers enables customers to replace dc-dc modules with embedded designs to reduce system cost while increasing power density.”

The Devices
NCP3102 is a 10 ampere (A) synchronous switching regulator that enables high efficiency power conversion from a +5 volt (V) or +12 V supply. The internal 8 milliohm (m) high-side FET (HS-FET) and 8 m low-side FET (LS-FET) enable efficiencies greater than 92 percent for typical buck applications. It also features an internal voltage reference of 0.8 V for sub 1 V operation which is now being required.

NCP3101 is a 6 A synchronous switching regulator that is pin-for-pin compatible with the NCP3102. This pin compatibility allows design engineers to scale their power solutions without having to redesign their printed circuit board (PCB). By offering true design flexibility, the NCP3101 allows the design engineer to scale up or down the power requirement based on the system need.
