PHOENIX, AZ – Sept. 27, 2016 – ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ON ), driving energy efficient innovations, has announced three new devices for driving 3-phase BLDC motors via 180 degree sinusoidal waveforms. Designed for use in cooling fans of household appliances such as refrigerators, as well as games consoles and computing equipment, the LV8811, LV8813, and LV8814 have voltage ranges of 3.6 volts (V) to 16 V, 6 to 16 V, and 3.6 to 16 V respectively. These highly integrated, software-less motor drivers simplify motor control circuit design by eliminating software development time. In addition, these devices reduce acoustic noise and vibration, and enable deployment of energy efficient motor controls. They can be controlled by a single Hall sensor, reducing system costs. Motor speed can be set by either a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal or a DC voltage. Furthermore, their lead angle can easily be adjusted. Download: JPG - 313.6kB

PHOENIX, Ariz – July 27, 2016 – ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ON ), has further expanded its portfolio of automotive Power Integrated Modules (PIMs) with the introduction of the STK984-190-E.Optimized for driving3-phase brushless DC motorsin modern automotive applications, this module contains six 40 V, 30 A MOSFETs configured as a three-phase bridge with an additional 40 V, 30 A high-side reverse battery protection MOSFET. The MOSFETs are mounted onto a direct bonded copper (DBC) substrate, resulting in a compact module with excellent thermal performance taking up only half of the board space used by an equivalent discrete solution. PHOENIX, Ariz – June 20, 2016 – ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ON ), has further expanded its portfolio of motor controllers with the introduction of the LV8907UW. Supporting an operating voltage range from 5.5 to 20 volts (4.5 to 40 V transient), this high performance and feature-packed device enables streamlined solutions for driving three-phase brushless motors. The LV8907UW integrates gate drivers for six N-channel MOSFETs, and a dual-stage charge pump for 100% duty-cycle operation. In its lowest cost configuration the IC can operate without an external microcontroller. The device requires no programming, as key parameters and functions - such as startup and speed setting - can be configured via SPI interface and stored in embedded non-volatile (OTP) memory. Open-loop and closed-loop speed control are possible. For more complex applications the LV8907UW can also support a small microcontroller with its integrated linear regulator (3.3V or 5V, 50mA), a local interconnect network (LIN) transceiver for automotive connectivity, and a watchdog timer.
