I am building a giant 7 segment display and I would like to use the multiplexed technique without loosing bright ( during the time the 7 segment display digit is off ) which is the best solution ? thanks a lot

For multiplexing one or if you have more displays they are connected in parallel therefore if you activate any segment, say ‘a’ the ‘a’ segment of all displays glows up. But the trick is that if you switch on and off the “common” line of the displays under MCU control. So if you wish to light up the ‘a’ segment of display 1 you simply switch on display 1 first by applying proper level at the base of its driving transistor. \nYou can use NPN transistor for big seven segment such as TIP31 series or BC337 series depends on the display power requirement and frequency response.\nPlease see our transistor datasheets for more details.\n\nhttp://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/TIP31A-D.PDF\n\nhttp://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/BC337-D.PDF Answered by:
