I use an LM117 to implement an adjustable DC supply that outputs about 1 - 22V. Can you point me to a reference design for a switching regulator approach to this same kind of adjustable power supply? My loads are all very modest -- well under an ampere.

For the purposes of the step-down DC/DC conversion to get high efficiency and variable Vout, I would suggest our LM257x series or our new portfolio of the buck converters from Sanyo. \nON:\nhttp://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/LM2575-D.PDF \nhttp://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/LM2574.PDF \n\nSanyo: \nhttp://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collater ... 57TP-D.PDF \nhttp://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/LA5735M-D.PDF \n\nThanks.
