I need to create a sine wave 230v AC supply for an emergency lighting application. We are a small company and only work with through hole PCBs. The rating only needs to be 25 watts. Are there any IC's that will create the appropriate PWM so that I can step up via a transformer from a 24v DC source and battery. We have 30 years experience in the industry and have used stepped sqare waves for our larger systems. Would a Class "D" audio amplifier give me the result that I need?

Please refer to our part number MC1455 fig.24 shows Pulse Width Modulation or PWM dimming application fig.3 that is PWM adjustable via potentiometer R1.
