I want to use your NCV8664 regulator to power a linear Hall sensor. We need to program this device after it is packaged.
Can I raise the regulated 5 V output to 8 Volts without damaging the regulator?
Thank you
Norm Poirier
If your input is Vin> 8V and V out =8V LDO is turned off .No current is flowing from the input to the output. Current starts flowing if Vin is lower than 7.3V and output transistor is reverse biased. Higher the difference between V out – V in higher the reverse current will be. Reverse current is not very high and unless your junction temperature is under 150C there should be no problem to operate NCV8664ST50T3G in reverse. Let me know if you have any other questions.
