The NUF2042XV6 (ESD and EMI) has input (pin# 1&3) and out (pin#4&6). The input faces a capacitor while the output faces resister and then capacitor. Which couple should be connected to the USB external connector? and why?
As far as which direction to orient the device, I would suggest placing the device such that pins 4 and 6 are facing the USB connector. This means that the resistor Rs is facing the connector, which will provide the termination at the connector.
