Eamonn Ahearne

Marketing Director, Distribution Channel
Eamonn Ahearne, a native of Limerick, Ireland, along with his beautiful Scottish wife and three French born boys continue to linguistically baffle the good merchants of Phoenix, Arizona, where he happily resides as the Director of Marketing for the Distribution channel with ON Semiconductor. Equipped with a B. Eng in Electrical Engineering from the University of Limerick, Eamonn practiced engineering in Scotland and England for 10 years with National Semiconductor and Texas Instruments (picking up an MBA at Cranfield University) before turning to the dark side and joining the marketing team at Motorola Semiconductor in France, focusing on the Distribution network. Twenty years and one spin off later, he still enjoys the challenge of promoting forty four thousand distinct part numbers to and through ON Semiconductor's Distributor partners.

Do Technology Companies Have a Role in Teaching Students How to Innovate?

by Eamonn Ahearne - 2015-04-29 10:00:38.0

The Dads Club at my son’s high school usually puts on a good monthly meeting, with lots of carbohydrates, beverages and a good speaker. But when I heard that the Technology Director was going to present on why they were going to convert the library (a.k.a. the Information Commons) to an “Innovation Commons”, like a lot of dads my age I grabbed my pitchfork and torch and heading off downtown, determined to save the books. But what I heard caused me to pause and consider for a moment how we prepare our young people for tomorrow.

Beyond the Obvious of Designing Low Power Devices, How Can Semiconductor Companies Support the Drive for Greater Energy Efficiency?

by Eamonn Ahearne - 2015-02-17 12:25:05.0

As I age none too gracefully, I seem to spend more and more time wandering around the house, uttering the immortal words “Honey, have you seen ….?” Yesterday I was looking for a charging cord for my iPhone. I had a vague recollection of having about five, but darned if I could find one. They couldn’t all be in use, could they? A quick calculation of Apple products in our household (three iPads, two iPhones, three iPods of various vintages) revealed the startling truth: yes they were all in use.

An Electrifying Ride Home from Electronica

by Eamonn Ahearne - 2014-12-04 14:09:14.0

Two things stood out at Electronica this year. First, everyone was trying (often too hard) to get a reference to the Internet of Things (IoT) onto their booth displays. Second, anyone who was anybody had a real car on their booth. I mean, hey, this is Germany after all. In the case of ON Semiconductor we had a light cream Audi TT 2.0T Quattro which was a popular backdrop for visitor’s photographs.
