What is the difference between RoHS compliance and Lead Free (Pb-free)?
Pb-free is a subset of the RoHS directive. Of all the materials banned by RoHS, only the use of Pb was widespread in ON Semiconductor's processes . Therefore, when ON Semiconductor states that the product is Pb-free it is also considered RoHS compliant.
What is ON Semiconductor's position on RoHS compliant products?
ON Semiconductor is fully compliant with the RoHS directive for all of the parts for which it makes business sense to do so. In other words, ON will offer Pb-free versions of all of the parts for which there is sufficient demand.
